“Have any of the other groups tried to save those that were lost?” Claire asked.

“I haven’t learned anything about that scenario.” Daniel replied shaking his head, “All the information I have says that the two groups fight and the group trying to restart humanity comes out on top.”

“I see.” Claire said. “What do you think would happen if I was to try to get back everyone that was taken?”

“I don’t know.” he replied, “Wait, are you planning to try to get everyone back?”

“That’s what I’m trying to figure out, is what I should do. I was shown two visions of the future. One in which the world dies, and the other, the world carries on. What I wasn’t shown was saving everyone that was taken and bringing them back.”

“I don’t know that that’s an option.” Daniel said as he began flipping through the book in his hands. “I don’t think it’s ever been done before.”

“Well, I think it’s about to be attempted.” Claire replied, “I am a cop first, and if people are not beyond saving, it is my job to save them. That’s why I spoke with Goldman earlier. He is on board with my plan thus far and has gone to the other group to speak with them. I should hear from him before too long.”

“You went to your old partner?” Daniel said looking stunned. “Is that where Justin brought you?”

“He didn’t bring me. I was going to go anyway. He just didn’t stop me and went with me to help keep me safe.”

“Has he seen anything involving your new plan of saving everyone?” Daniel asked.

“No. Not yet, but to be fair, if whoever this Creator is, is trying to pit us against each other, he could be sending the visions rather than granting the actual ability to see the future.”

“You’re going to fight the Creator?” He asked in disbelief.

“I don’t want to fight him. I want to break this cycle. I have faith that humanity was well on its way to figuring out how to fix the things we had broken, but we were stopped from figuring it out.” She replied.

“I don’t know, Claire.”

“Do you trust in me, Daniel?” she asked.

“You have the rune of the decider, so I have to.” He replied.

“You don’t have to do anything.” Claire said, “I’m asking if you trust me, not what the runes mean.”

Daniel nodded slowly before responding, “You are the one that wanted to hep find my friends before all this started. You were gentle and genuinely caring. I do trust you. I just don’t know what will happen if we try this.”

“I don’t know either, but we have to try. Everyone’s families are gone, theirs and ours. I think it’s time that we break this cycle of destruction and figure out a better way than to kill everyone on the planet.” Claire said. Her voice sounded powerful, even to her.
