“I understand if you’re all a little hesitant to join me. To be honest with all of you, I’m not entirely sure that this is the right way to go, but I can tell you that I believe the position we’ve been placed in is wrong. Our families and loved ones have been ripped away from us. There was no warning or signal. Whoever, or whatever, this creator is, has never allowed us to go beyond the limits it’s placed on us. How does it know that we won’t overcome the threats to our planet? As for what we are going to do if we can get everyone back, I don’t know, but I think that if it’s possible, we should bring them back for one reason. It’s the right thing to do!” Claire finished.
There was a wave of agreement that swept through the room. Even the old man was nodding in agreement. Claire looked around at the new determination on everyone’s face and listened to the random comments about parents, spouses, and children that were all taken when they were left behind. It gave her an extra boost of confidence in her choice.
The room suddenly exploded with white light, only this time there was no pain. People screamed and backed away from the source in the center, doing their best to avoid it.
“How dare you, child!” A familiar voice growled as the light faded. “How dare you attempt to undermine me and my plan!”
“So you’ve been watching us?” Claire said stepping forward to face the man who had appeared in her vision.
“I have, and you are wrong, Claire. I won’t put humanity back on this planet. They are a destructive force, unable to see reason and truly overcome their warlike nature.” He said. His eyes were narrowed on her. Claire hadn’t ever felt so threatened in her life.
“You will fight the other group for dominance of this planet.”
“No, we won’t.” Claire said. “We won’t continue this cycle that you have us on for your own entertainment. If you truly are ‘The Creator’ and we are taking a bad path as a species, how hard is it for you to start over?”
“That is irrelevant. I don’t want to see your species eradicated because of its natural inclination for self-destruction.”
“Who’s choice is it really?” Claire shot back. “It’s not up to you what we choose to do. We are beings of free will, clearly. If we weren’t you would be able to control us to do your bidding. Instead, you wipe us out again and again, pulling families apart and setting our species back by millenniums of progress.”
“This is not for you to decide!” He bellowed, rattling every window. “You are to do as you’re told!”
“We will not! We will die before we do! We will find a way to bring back our loved ones along with everyone else, and we will do what we must to save our species!”
