The Tale of the Fallen Hero


“A long time ago, an average man fell in love with a beautiful woman, only to discover that she had a secret. She would travel the nearby city at night, stopping crimes, arresting people, and occasionally work with other people like her to solve the bigger problems in the area.

“One day, not long after they had fallen in love, they found out that she was pregnant with a little baby boy. Unable to continue her work, she implored the man to take up her mantle and carry on her work. He doubted he would be able to do the job, but did it anyway.

“The baby was born and the years passed. The woman returned to her work, with the man by her side, and they were happy for a time.

“Their son grew into an impressive man as time went on. Eventually, he figured out the couple’s secret. He implored them to let him join them, and they refused, for a time.

“When they thought he was ready he began assisting them, but thought there was a better way. One night, he stepped over the line, and someone got hurt.

“Both the woman and the man fought with their son, who agreed in the end, to never to what he had done again.

“Last year, the boy accompanied his mother and father, along with six of their friends, on a mission. An explosion occurred, killing all but the man, while the son vanished.

“The man searched over the next year for his son, and found him working with those his wife and friends fought for so long.

“In his grief, surprise, and arrogance, the man crossed the line. He killed everyone in the room, and in his blind-rage, killed his son as well. The man had become everything he had fought for so long.” Marcus finished.
