Desires & Deception

“I want to dance,” I yelled to Gwen as the smoke from the fog machine swirled past, “I love this music.”

“We have to focus,” she replied signaling toward a VIP table, “the target is over there. We need to make sure we don’t lose him.”

“Come on,” I pleaded, “he’s not going anywhere. Will you just listen to the beat?”

“I can hear it, and my answer is still no, Henry,” she replied.

“How can I convince you to let me go dance?”

“If you get me his phone, I might reconsider,” she said.

“Fucking done!” I said as I dove into the crowd.

I heard her faintly say something, but I didn’t care. She wanted his phone, and I wanted to dance. It was a win-win. The people in the crowd parted as I strutted toward the velvet rope. I began stumbling and laughing thirty feet away from the bouncer who hadn’t noticed me yet.

“Whoa there girly,” the bouncer said as he caught me before I fell into the rope. “VIPs only past this point.”

“Come on, I deserve to be in there,” I said winking at him. I could see the confused look on his face as he tried to see past my hair and make-up.

“I’m afraid I can’t let you in,” he replied putting his hands on my shoulders.

“RYU!” I screamed from the rope. The music skipped at that moment, and he looked up to see me waving. He looked at me for a moment as I mouthed the words ‘can I come up.’

“Alright, back it up lady,” the bouncer said as I saw Ryu start walking toward me.

“Wait! He’s coming to get me,” I pleaded.

I backed up a step and waited, swaying slightly as Ryu arrived at the rope, “Who’s this girl?” he asked.

“Just some slut that wants to get in the VIP area,” the bouncer replied.

Seeing my opportunity, I stumbled into the pair of them forcing them to catch me.

“I love your work!” I bellowed at Ryu.

“I think it’s best if you go sleep it off,” he paused waiting.

“Henrietta,” I said.

“Henrietta. I think you could use some fresh air and water,” Ryu said before whispering in the bouncer’s ear. He nodded, and Ryu turned away returning to his table.

“Wait!” I yelled.

“Alright, come on,” the bouncer said, “I’ll take you to a special area.”

I followed him with all the excitement of the girl I was pretending to be as he led me to a quiet section of the club. The walls were black, and two other girls were passed out on the couches that lined the walls.

I spun as soon as we were inside and caught him in the throat before pulling on his head and kneeing him in the face. He landed with a thud on the floor as Gwen arrived at the doorway.

“Can I go dance now?” I asked holding the phone out.
